Kat Melheim is an artist, entrepreneur, and founder/CEO of an art magazine that celebrates the painting, drawing, photography, poetry and prose of the coffee world, CoffeePeople.

Although she is at home in oils on canvas, she is also a rising star in the revival of the traditional Scandinavian folk art of Rosemåling. This decorative painting style came into existence around 1750, when Baroque and Rococo - artistic styles of the upper class - were first introduced into Norway’s rural culture. Rosemåling designs use C and S strokes and feature scroll and flowing lines, floral designs, and both subtle and vibrant colors.

When not traveling the world to discover new artists to feature in her magazine, grafting branches on coffee stem stocks on the hills of Hawaii, or competing in international coffee roasting competitions, Kat takes on a handful of commissions each year to keep the Norwegian folk art culture alive. Working exclusively on commissions, the price of her one-of-a-kind oils on wood has gone from $50 to $500 to $5000 in the last 18 months.
